With lots of fibre, iron, calcium, magnesium and b vitamins, these oaty bites are a healthy snack alternative for a pick me up energy boost. 80 kcals (3g protein, 8g carbs, 4g fat) per piece too so if you're watching your calorie or macro intake. These bites help me with any PMS cravings too.
This Anita Bean's recipe is flexible and you can mix up or omit the seeds and sub any kind of nut for the almonds.
Ingredients (makes 16 bites):
100g ready to eat soft or medjool dates
50g ground almonds
25g bocoa powder
2 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp sunflower seeds
50g rolled oats
1 tbsp runny honey
1 tbsp water
Method:
Blitz all the ingredients in a food processer until well combined
Press into a square about 1 cm thick between two sheets of baking paper.
Chill in the fridge for an hour or so and then cut in to approx 2.5cm squares.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or the freezer for up to 3 months.
