This is so so easy to make and you know 100% what's going in it. Shop bought mackerel pates can be full of hidden / excessive fats (random oils!), preservatives and sugar. This takes one minute to put together and provides you with protein and healthy fats to nourish your body and brain.
Ingredients:
1 smoked mackerel fillet
1 level tbs crème fraiche (I had reduced fat in my fridge from another recipe but either full fat or reduced is fine)
Big squeeze of lemon juice
Freshly ground black pepper
Method:
Flake the fish into a bowl, discard the skin
Mix in the crème fraiche and lemon juice
Black pepper over the top
Serve on its own with salad or on crispbreads, toasts, rice cakes, oat cakes, cucumber. Yum.
